About Me
Hi, I’m Verissimo.
I didn’t start out to be a teacher. I actually worked in a bank in San Francisco and enjoyed it very much. Why did I choose teaching over banking? That’s a long story but basically, it was two main things:
- Teaching allowed me to directly make a difference in people’s lives.
- I like working in education. The people I have worked with share my passion for teaching and learning.
It’s been nearly 40 years since I decided to work in education. Learning, Naturally is a new road in that journey. I want to continue to make a difference in people’s lives, teachers and students. I want teachers to enjoy being in the classroom as much as I do. This website is an opportunity to share my experience.
One of the things I didn’t like about being a teacher was the stress. Many times, I was working harder before the lessons than in the actual lessons. The demands were high but the support was not always there.
There was a constant demand to motivate my students and to entertain them (because students who like what they are learning, learn better). It seemed like a never-ending quest for more interesting topics and more fun activities. Many times, it felt exhausting.
From the many lesson observations I have done, I know this is still true for many teachers around the world. I want to change that. I want to offer teachers a different way to look at teaching, a more natural way.
All students have a natural ability to learn. I want to offer teachers ideas, activities, and lesson plans that save time, and make learning easy and enjoyable.

- 40 years of experience in education
- 30 years as a successful international teacher trainer and consultant
- A Master’s Degree in TESOL from the University of Edinburgh
- I have taught all age groups, at all levels, both in private language schools, as well as state primary schools.
- I want to use my experience to support teachers, to help them teach more comfortably and more confidently. That’s what Learning, Naturally is all about.
